    TELEVISION PRODUCTION FACILITIES
Each morning, Satilla Marsh students produce a live morning news program. The studio is equipped with 2 video cameras, audio mixer, video mixer, 2 computers with computer/video interface and SME has just added a green screen for the Chroma Key.  The equipment is managed by SME's fourth and fifth grade students. Classroom activities are videotaped and featured on the morning news,
Live from SNN (Sandpiper News Network)

        RESOURCES
The Media Center has an extensive collection of print and non print resources to support the instructional program. A varied selection of books, journals, newspapers, and audio visual materials are available. In addition to traditional print and non print materials.  Internet access is available through the school's Student's Resource page on the internet .  A wide range of multimedia production tools are available.

  • TELECOMMUNICATION NETWORK
Students and Faculty at Satilla Marsh can access the Glynn County computer network and the www via high speed internet.  Students are expected to access the www using the SME student Resource page on the Satilla Marsh Web site.

  • VIDEO NETWORK
Each classroom in the school is equipped with a digital projector or television which is capable of receiving four channels of closed circuit video from the Media Center as well as the normal television channels.

  • INSTRUCTIONAL PROGRAM
The media specialist in conjunction with the classroom teacher provides media skills for kindergarten through adult. This includes instruction of skills to access traditional information, as well as skills to access computerized automated sources.

  • ADDITIONAL TECHNOLOGY
All classrooms have two or more modern computers and more will be added each year. All computers are networked. The school has a computer lab and another one is under construction and will be open soon.  Beside the 2 stationary labs, SME has 3 protable labs and a portable keyboarding lab.

  • ACCELERATED READER
Satilla Marsh has a wonderful program to encourage reading and promote better comprehension for students in all grades. The program is as easy as 1-2-3. The student selects a book, then reads the book (or listens to the book), and finally takes a test over the book on the computers in the Media Center. The computer keeps track of the student's reading and awards points for comprehension. The program motivates students to read more and better books.

  • AUTOMATED CARD CATALOG AND CD-ROM SUPPORTED RESEARCH CENTER
Twelve CD-ROM supported computers are located in the Media Center. These computers are available to students and faculty throughout the school day. They access the following programs:

    • OPAC -- These programs permit searching of the entire library collection by subject, title, author, or key word.

    • Kurzwell -- A scanning center with the ability to transfer written words in to audible words.

    • Accelerated Reader -- A program designed to encourage and test the reading of literature.
    • On line Home Work Help using selected resources on the World Wide Web and accessed through the SME web page http://glynn.schooldesk.net/Default.aspx?alias=glynn.schooldesk.net/sme
