* On Thursday, November 13 at a special reception hosted by the Brunswick Golden Isles Chamber of Commerce and the Glynn County School System recognized the 2009-10 Teacher of the Year.  There were 18 teachers selected at their respective schools.  Sheila Moran was chosen as the Glynn Academy Teacher of the Year.  The reception was held at the Old City Hall in Brunswick.  Click here for the complete list of Glynn County's 2009-10 Teachers of the Year.



* On Saturday, November 8, 2008 Dr. Bull, Dr. Ballowe, and Mr. Terry Graff with the help of members of the Glynn County Board of Education joined forces with community members for "Operation Graduation: Do You Believe?"  Special guest speakers were Mr. Kelvin Simmons and Mr. Willie Mitchell both members of the Gainsville School Board.

* The GA Players went Trick-or-Treating for canned goods Friday night.  They collected 455 pounds of canned goods which have been donated to Safe Harbor for Children. 
* Congratulations to Shelby Robison.  She is the 2-AAAA Region Cross-Country Champion.  She finished 1st out of all the runners at the region meet. 


* Congratulations to Emma Snyder who will attend the National Young Leaders State Conference to be held in Atlanta from October 30 through November 2, 2008.  Pictured below is Freshman Academy Principal Steve Waters, Emma Snyder and Freshman Academy Academic Coordinator Ann McKinney.


* Congratulations to GA students who earned Advanced Placement Program Scholarship Awards in recognition of their exceptional achievement on AP Exams.


* Anyone interested in being on the Youth Advisory Council should come to Guidance for a description of the program and an application form.

* The GA Sailing Team placed fourth overall in the South Atlantic Interscholastic Sailing Association and second place at the Lower Coastal regatta.


* Dylan Spry, sophomore, was awarded an All Star Acting Award this weekend for his role of Tuck in the Glynn Academy production of Mother Hicks by Susan Zeder.

* This weekend the Glynn Academy Band traveled to Effingham County for the Coastal Empire Classic Festival and Competition. Our band earned the following honors:

* Attention 2005 and 2006 Graduates.  If you ordered a diploma plaque during your senior year at Glynn Academy please stop by and pick it up in the front office of the GA building.

* Parents are required to send a note with the student to be brought to the front office no later than 8:30 a.m., or send an email or send a fax to 267-4246 or an email to gaattendance@glynn.k12.ga.us.  The note needs to have the student’s full name, grade and reason for check out, along with telephone numbers where parents may be reached for verification. Otherwise, the parent is required to come to the school to check the student out. Students are not allowed to check themselves out under any circumstance. The student will be given a check out slip to excuse them from a classroom setting at the time of check out. No student is called out of an academic class for any circumstance other than an emergency(life or death).

* Any student checking out early will not be allowed to participate in any extra-curricular activities(i.e. sporting events. clubs, pageants,etc.)
