Nine schools named Title I Distinguished Schools
 State Superintendent of Schools Kathy Cox recently recognized nine Glynn County schools as Title I Distinguished Schools. Title I schools have a significant population of students who are economically disadvantaged and the schools receive federal money to assist with the education of these students. To earn this distinction, a school must have made Adequate Yearly Progress at least three years in a row.
Glynn County's 2009 Title I Distinguished Schools are Altama Elementary, Glyndale Elementary, Golden Isles Elementary, Goodyear Elementary, Greer Elementary, St. Simons Elementary, Glynn Middle, Jane Macon Middle and Needwood Middle. To read more, click here.

Glynn Middle band students selected for All District Honor Band
Sixteen Glynn Middle School band students recently auditioned for the Georgia Music Educators Association All-District Honor Band. They performed scales and prepared etudes and sight-read new music. All 16 were selected for the Honor Band which distinguishes them as the some of the top players in all of southeast Georgia. This is the highest number of students to make the Honor Band for any Glynn County school since the early ’90s. The students will go to Valdosta at the end of February to participate in the Honor Band event. Five students - Kaitlin Reid, Daniel Sheffield, John Morrison, Megan Triplett and Micah Caldwell - also earned All Region honors.
