FUNCTIONAL BEHAVIORAL ASSESSMENT
In order to effectively develop interventions to address a student's target behavior, the SST must determine the function, or purpose, of the specific behavior(s). The SST must conduct a Functional Behavioral Assessment (FBA) in order to gather data to write an effective Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP). In order to help a student change an inappropriate behavior, we must teach him or her an appropriate replacement behavior. Positive behavior supports will be necessary to maintain the replacement behavior(s) being taught.
